"I love children and these are very special and rewarding classes. It is a real privilege to get to know the parents and their babies, to watch them grow, and to see the beautiful unfolding of their personalities."

Why should babies exercise?
Experts agree that good health and exercise habits need to be established at an early age. The first-ever physical activity guidelines for children from birth to age 5 were set forth in 2002 by the National Association of Sports and Physical Education (NASPE). The NASPE
guidelines state:
|
 |
"Infants should interact with parents and/or caregivers in daily
physical activities that promote and help facilitate the development of
an infant's movement skills ... Toddlers should accumulate at least 30
minutes daily of structured physical activity; preschoolers at least 60
minutes. Toddlers and preschoolers should engage in at least 60 minutes
and up to several hours per day of unstructured physical activity."
|

|
Research shows that most babies, toddlers, and young children do not
meet these daily exercise requirements. Children need to build a solid
physical repertoire during infancy and toddler-hood in order to grow a
life-long appreciation for good health and a desire to participate in
physical activity. Doing Wee Ones Yoga with your child establishes the
foundation for a lifetime of healthy practices. |
Infant Wee Ones
Age Range: Newborn to Almost Crawling
Infant Wee Ones classes combine baby yoga and massage with postnatal yoga.
The yoga you do with your baby will encourage bonding, improve baby's
sleep and digestion, and enhance motor and neuromuscular development. Babies get to interact with other babies and parents with other parents.

Our focus for mom is to strengthen over-stretched core muscles and
release over-tight shoulders. We also take the time in each class to
seek advice and share tips and tricks before an extended relaxation
period. |
